On Monday, after careful consideration, I announced:

I'm running for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.

As Delegate, I've been honored and privileged to serve the people of Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax. I want to continue to serve you in a capacity that gives greater voice to the values you and I share.

You know me.
You know I'm someone who works hard to get the details right.
You know I don't give up.
You know how passionate I am about the causes we share.
You know how hard I fight to make the impossible a reality.

As I said when i announced:

Injustice really gets under my skin.

All our lives we’ve been told
“That’s just the way things are.”

But I’ve found – if you’re persistent and creative,
get the details right, and work with others of good will –
even the toughest problems can be solved.

So when I hear something is “impossible”,
that’s my cue to get to work!

Virginia needs a full-time lieutenant governor.

If elected, I will visit every one of Virginia’s 133 counties and cities
and assist the Governor in connecting with Virginians all across the Commonwealth.

To heed Virginia’s voices,
we must hear them first.

I need your help. In the past, I've given away virtually all the campaign funds I've raised (more than $100,000) to flip Virginia blue. Now that we have a Democratic Majority, I have a tough statewide race ahead for me and could really use your support.

The Commonwealth of Virginia is one hundred times the size of the 45th Delegate district I'm proud to represent. Reaching 8 million Virginians is a lot more expensive!

With your support and with the support of folks all across the Commonwealth who are inspired by this campaign to bring Virginia Government closer to the people of Virginia we serve, we will win the Democratic nomination on June 8, and I will go on to be elected your Lieutenant Governor in November 2021.

(Should I not succeed in June, I will file again to serve the people of Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax in the 45th District Delegate race scheduled later in the year. Because it's a redistricting year, I can run statewide without relinquishing my seat or the work I do for you every day.)

But with your help, we will win.

Christmas is around the corner, a traditional time to spend with famliy and good cheer darkened somewhat by the tribulations we've been through in a rough 2020.
