GO VOTE!
TOMORROW, Tuesday November 7th, is Election Day
Polls are open from 6am-7pm
I cannot stress enough how important this election is on Tuesday. The polls are neck and neck, and we need every vote we can to make sure that we sweep the statewide ticket this year. Winning Virginia depends on a huge Democratic turnout in Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax County. People across the Commonwealth are depending on you to show up on Tuesday and make sure that Ed Gillespie doesn't turn us into the next North Carolina.
I proudly endorse Lieutenant Governor Dr. Ralph Northam for Governor. In my time in the House of Delegates, I've seen all kinds of terrible legislation make its way to the Governor's desk: bills to defund Planned Parenthood, to take hospital visitation rights away from same-sex partners, to allow criminals to bring military-grade assault weapons into emergency shelters, to punish and vilify undocumented immigrants, and to diminish the wages of our workers.
Terry McAuliffe has been a brick wall against these terrible bills, vetoing every one of them. And Ralph Northam will do the same. But if we don't get Ralph elected, those bills will start passing into law, and there won't be anything we can do about it. Gillespie and the Republicans are determined to take away our voice, by gerrymandering Virginia so that Trumpism remains supreme here until 2031. Because of redistricting in 2021, this is a 14-Year Election. Don't let Ed Gillespie and the Republicans bring Trump's DC policies across the river to Virginia.
I know Ralph personally. I trust him. He listens to me. And I listen to him and to you. If you elect Ralph, you and I will have the Governor's ear. If you elect Ed, your Democratic representatives (including me) will have little power in Richmond.
We also need Justin Fairfax for Lieutenant Governor. We may well win back the Senate in 2019, and Justin will be essential to breaking ties on the things we care about. His opponent is the author of the Forced Transvaginal Ultrasound bill and should be disqualified on that basis alone.
Then there's Attorney General Mark Herring, with whom I worked to bring 24/7 services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in Northern Virginia. His leadership is essential in Richmond.
Please make sure you vote for Ralph Northam, Justin Fairfax, and Mark Herring tomorrow between 6 am and 7 pm.
I will also be on the ballot for re-election and respectfully ask for your vote. If you've been following my newsletters, you know all I've done for Virginia, from bringing cameras into committee rooms to protecting the right to protest, to helping victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
