This Tuesday, you are invited to the official (virtual)
Mark Levine for Lieutenant Governor Campaign Kickoff
Tuesday, March 30, 6 to 7 pm
You will find out why I'm running for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia as well as all the details on how you can help the campaign.
We'll be joined by special guests:
- Meagan Alderton, Alexandria School Board Member
- Frank Anderson, former Executive Director of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee
- Mary Hale, Director of the Fairfax Inova Ewing Forensic Assessment and Consultation Team (FACT), which helps survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Each will describe my work behind the scenes making a difference in Virginia.
While no donation is required to attend, we could really use your support. Wednesday, March 31 is the last day of the quarter and the single most important deadline of the entire election.
Donations received by March 31 will be compared with those of other candidates. In this wide-open race, the amount of money each campaign has to go forward will be used by many voters to evaluate which campaigns are viable and which are not.
A statewide campaign is much more expensive than a delegate campaign. As delegate, I represent 1% of Virginia. But as Lieutenant Governor, I seek to represent all of Virginia. That means television ads, digital ads, and mailers have to blanket the entire Commonwealth. In a race where, although I'm tied for the lead, more than 80% of Virginians are currently undecided, how much we raise is the single most critical factor to my success.
If, prior to contributing, you want to hear first why I'm running and my vision for transforming the office of Lieutenant Governor, that's perfectly fair. But I would respectfully ask -- if you don't want to contribute as of yet, that you at least donate by March 31 so I can reach this critical end-of-quarter deadline.
TOMORROW: Mark's Monthly Meetup
Another month, another meetup! A lot has happened since the February meetup, both here in Virginia and across the country. In Virginia, we abolished the death penalty and are on track to legalizing marijuana. Across the country, we have seen a terrible rise in gun violence and anti-Asian hate, as well as disturbing new Jim Crow laws.
I hope you'll join me tomorrow to discuss these matters and any and everything on your mind, as we look ahead to the General Assembly's reconvene session set for Wednesday, April 7. We will also discuss COVID vaccination and recovery efforts and share updates on my campaign to become the first year-round Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and the first openly gay Lieutenant Governor in the United States.
I hope you'll join me tomorrow for a good discussion!
I thank you again for the honor and privilege of serving you.
